How DentWoo Started

A story about organizing digital content for dentistry

If you’re reading this, you’re probably a dentist, hygienist, or other professional in our field.

Since you’re working in dentistry already, you know that dentistry is hard. But you also know that there are a lot of resources available that can make our lives easier.

The trouble is that the content you need is scattered all around the internet, and you don’t have time to read an entire textbook, or search through unreliable resources, or sift through articles written for consumers in order to find what you’re looking for.

The profession needs a directory that houses valuable content, highlights the best of it, and serves as a North Star for dentists around the globe.

As a dental student at the University of Maryland in 2015, Dr. Chance Bodini realized that podcasts were gaining popularity among dentists because they offered an easy and convenient way to stay informed about the profession and they provided a unique opportunity for dentists around the world to connect and share their stories.

As the dental podcast community grew, the Dental Podcast Directory was established at it’s original domain of DentalPodcast.org.

For 8 years, the podcast directory’s singular focus was organizing dental podcasts so dentists could subscribe to shows to help them grow.

Since 2015, the volume of digital content created by dental professionals has exploded.

Our online community used to be limited to Dental Town. Now we’re communicating in Facebook Groups, broadcasting our thoughts with podcasts, recording our techniques on YouTube, and and building a new community on Embrasure Space.

Since mountains of content are being created, we knew we had to rethink how we were approaching content organization and curation.

So in 2023, we rebranded our platform as DentWoo and launched a completely new experience – built from the ground up to not only collect, curate, and organize dental content; but also connect the industry’s most influential voices not only to dentists, but other entrepreneurs and brands.
