Dr. Hogue is a dentist, author, researcher and host of the educational podcast Aging Pearls. She is a sought after speaker, author and educator, best known for designing training curricula for Medical Residents, Geriatric and Hospice/Palliative Care Fellows at some of the nations top academic medical institutions. She is an American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Fellow. As a Dental Geriatrician, she has developed a unique perspective of the correlation between oral and systemic health. After completing an Advanced Fellowship in Geriatrics, Dr. Hogue has become one of a few geriatric-trained hospital dentists around the country. With nearly two decades of service, she has distinguished herself among her colleagues and established a national reputation as an expert in her field. She has served as a practicing dental clinician, researcher and educator.

As a researcher, she has strived to enhance and develop innovative interactive models of care to empower patients and/or caregivers to participate in their healthcare through knowledge and behavior modifications for an improved quality of life. As a clinician, she has provided dental care for adult persons who may be medically compromised with one or more chronic, debilitating, physical or mental illnesses with associated medications and psychosocial issues. As a dental geriatrician she is competent in treating the needs of functionally independent adults, frail elderly, and functionally dependent elderly.

Dr. Nguyen is a public health dentist, wife, mom, maker of things, and an avid systems thinker in all aspects of her life. She is an advocate for person-centered, transformative solutions that improve the lives of marginalized people and their communities, and her approach to this work comes from a place of deep, personal connection and professional development. She currently serves as Chief Dental Officer at Clinica Family Health, a large federally qualified health center and a nationally recognized leader in health quality and health equity.

She was honored by the Colorado Dental Association with the Exceptional Service Award in 2017 and by Oral Health Coalition of Colorado as 2018’s Outstanding Dentis of the Year. Dr. Nguyen is current President for the National Network for Oral Health Access, serves on the Dental Quality Alliance Executive Committee, holds an appointment as adjunct faculty for the University of Colorado, School of Dental Medicine, serves on multiple state and national health and policy-related boards, and is a frequent advisor for dental quality, integration, and chronic disease management initiatives.
