A student-led club at Augusta University is giving students the opportunity to explore Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, along with fitness, wellness and self-defense.

The AU Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club meets Sundays from 2:30–4 p.m. at Terra Guerra Jiu-Jitsu (266 Bobby Jones Expressway). The club is free and open to all AU students, regardless of experience level.

Dr. Pacheco shares his path from dentistry and computer science to higher education, explains the teaching challenges that led him to build an adaptive learning tool for his courses, and discusses how immediate feedback, branching pathways, and confidence-based decision points can support student learning. He also reflects on using generative AI for smaller instructional tools through vibe coding and considers what great teaching may look like in a future where faculty increasingly serve as guides for critical thinking and human judgment. Anna Carver, Avery Robinson and Lahari Kamabathula are in the Georgia Legislative Internship Program, working on legislation tracking, committee meetings, constituent services and drafting bill summaries.
